It is with great enthusiasm that we present this booklet of the Kitchen Project, an initiative developed by the Educational Centre of Montemor-o-Velho –Montemor-o-Velho School Cluster, together with parents and guardians, and in partnership with the RYHEALTH Project. This publication brings together the recipes prepared by the students.
Throughout the 2024/2025 school year, each class from the 1st to the 4th grade participated in a healthy cooking session, during which parents and guardians taught the children how to prepare recipes they had suggested, with everyone literally getting their hands in the dough. Like the RYHEALTH Project itself, the Kitchen Project was born from a firm commitment to promoting active and healthy lifestyles, recognising that a balanced diet is fundamental to harmonious development. Cooking is a powerful educational tool: by learning how to prepare their own meals, our children gain autonomy, confidence, and nutritional literacy. They learn to choose quality ingredients, measure quantities, and follow recipes — skills that will remain with them into adulthood, helping them make healthier and more sustainable food
choices. This booklet gathers a selection of simple and appealing recipes prepared by the students at school, so that each family can recreate the flavours and learning experiences at home. We hope these pages serve as a starting point for many more healthy family cooking adventures, encouraging togetherness and the discovery of new foods.
